If you have any questions about why an answer is this and not something else, be sure to ask here. Knowing why it's not the way you thought it was is the best way to learn.

And thanks go to Ted for the answers, and to Matt for formatting and putting them up here for us.

I replied to this on the email list, but I'll put it here also:

Number one should be "peann luidhe", not just "peann".

On number 36, are we saying that "He buys a car today" is equivalent to "He will buy a car today", therefore placing it in the future tense instead of the present tense because it is not an habitual action?

Well, I had intended for this to be present tense, but it was more for the practice than anything... it's a fairly awkward concept, and is something that we would usually say in the future tense in both Irish & English.

Truem because the way we'd normally say it in the present tense in English would be "He is buying a new car today", which would be a whole different sentence in Irish than either "Ceannóidh sé carr nua inniu." OR "Ceannaíonn sé carr nua inniu.", wouldn't it?

Yeah, either Ceannaíonn sé or Ceannóidh sé would be good. I was trying to find a good preset tense usage that wasn't the imperative form, and it's harder to do than you would think.
It really makes you wonder why people start off teaching the present tense first, it's not really the most useful of tenses.

Well, I'm not sure if we were trying to avoid "automobile"(gluaisteán) completely, but I think that we were definitely avoiding the verbal noun. It's not like "gluaisteán" is one of the words in "Progress in Irish" so far. Wonder if they've left it out because it's just TOO easy to pronounce. :D
